Monte I. Trammer lives in St. Petersburg, Florida and is a community volunteer active in several philanthropic organizations. Mr. Trammer is Development Chair of The Florida Orchestra, Trustee and Past Chair of the Empire State College Foundation, a Director of the J. West Prostate Cancer Foundation and Chairman of the board of trustees of First Baptist Church of College Hill in Tampa. A member of the St. Petersburg Rotary Club, he is an active volunteer with the Pinellas Education Foundation and its Career Education Council. Mr. Trammer has also been a chess tutor at Academy Prep, a private middle school in St. Petersburg.
He moved to St. Petersburg in early 2009 after a thirty-nine-year career in the newspaper industry, which included stints as publisher in Elmira, Ithaca, Saratoga Springs and Clifton Park, N.Y. He was one of the founding editors of USA Today.
Mr. Trammer did undergraduate work at IUPUI and graduate study at the Center for Educational Leadership at George Washington University. He holds an Executive J.D. from Concord Law School of Kaplan University and an honorary Ph.D. in Humane Letters from the State University of New York.
