Ron Peterson currently serves as the Director of Corporate Compliance and Audit at Tampa General Hospital, Inc. (TGH), a thousand-bed acute care teaching hospital in Tampa, Florida. He has more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry and another 14 years of public accounting and industry experience. His primary duties are to ensure the organization is compliant with the various regulatory requirements and hospital policies and procedures.

Mr. Peterson’s previous experience includes working in the field of public accounting with two of the big four accounting firms and a local accounting firm; where he held the position of Audit Manager, responsible for the supervision and administration of compilations, reviews and audit engagements. He worked in various industries while at the firms; the industries were healthcare, SEC registration statement filings, private placement filings and preparation of financial statement forecasts and projections. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Fellow of the Health Care Financial Management Association (FHFMA), Certified in Healthcare Compliance and Certified in Healthcare Privacy.

Mr. Peterson is a member of a number of professional associations, including the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Inc, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Inc., Institute of Internal Auditors, Inc., Association of Health Care Internal Auditors, Inc., Financial Management Association, Inc. (HFMA) and Health Care Compliance Association.

Mr. Peterson has and continues to be an active participant in the community. He currently serves as Board Chair for the Tampa Bay Black Business Investment Corporation as well as the Conn Foundation. He was formerly an Enterprise Bank of Tampa Board Member, Tampa Crossroads, Inc. Board Member and Treasurer, The Divine Providence Food Bank, Inc. Board Member, University of South Florida President’s Minority Advisory Committee Member and Tampa Bay Chapter of The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. President.

His other community activities have included past President and current Secretary of the Midtown Kiwanis Club of Tampa, Coordinator of Midtown Kiwanis Club’s Terrific Kids Program, Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Member of Greater Tampa United Way Site Committee and Deacon, Food Pantry Coordinator and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent at his church.

Mr. Peterson is a graduate of Florida State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting; and a graduate of the University of Phoenix’s Master of Business Administration program.
