Dr. Tracy McPhail Reed
Manager, Assessment and Development, TECO
Tracy McPhail Reed, Ph.D., SPHR is the Manager, Assessment and Development at TECO Energy, an energy-related holding company based in Tampa, Florida. She is responsible for the design and implementation of selection and developmental assessment systems throughout the four TECO Energy Companies. She is currently focused on integrating workforce planning, selection and development processes to maximize talent management and achieve sustained team member engagement.
Dr. McPhail Reed received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College followed by her master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of South Florida. She obtained the Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification in 2005.
She believes that mentoring is a critical developmental tool. Dr. McPhail Reed started her career at TECO as an intern in 1996 and continues to support student development by providing internships at TECO. She demonstrates her commitment to mentoring through her professional and community activities. She volunteers as a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay. Dr. McPhail Reed served on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive board for five years. In 2014, she won The Big Sister of the Year award. She and her husband are actively involved in the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church as a Sunday School teachers. Dr. McPhail Reed believes in the principles of servant leadership and the use of her talent and skills to build a greater community.
